Think It Thursday: Paul Walker

Celebrities pass away all the time. Quite a bit are past their hay-day & succumb to disease. Others overdose or commit suicide. There is the occasional murder, plane crash or sporting accident. But I don't think any have been quite so tragic as the untimely passing of Paul Walker.

I don't know if it was because he stayed out of the Hollywood hype, was true to himself, dated a regular person (albeit, much younger), or that he genuinely cared about people. But I have to admit to digging out all of my Paul Walker movies & watching them. It's such a sad irony that the franchise he played a vital roll in, was the same passion he had in life & played a role in his passing.

But the part that is unnerving, is all of the information being released. The whole world knows now, that it wasn't just the crash alone that killed him. Imagine what his long time girlfriend & his teenage daughter are going through just by knowing that & constantly being reminded of it by the press. I can't even begin to fathom the amount of pain they're in. Unlike Tyrese Gibson's pain & grief, which has been captured on video. I'll admit that I watched it, but I was sickened when I saw everyone with cameras turn & follow him. Yes, he's in the spotlight being a celebrity & all, but he doesn't deserve to have his grief plastered everywhere for the world to repeatedly watch.

Paul Walker was a man that everyone could relate to in some way. To have him pass so suddenly & so tragically is surreal. But instead of pulling apart every detail of his life & death, perhaps we should all live as he did instead.

"You know, all that really matters is that the people you love are happy and healthy. Everything else is just sprinkles on the sundae."
-Paul Walker
