I don't know what it is, but my kids would choose a frozen Uncrustable over a regular PB&J any day. Unfortunately, they can go through an entire box in a day & that gets a bit costly.
OK, so they may not look as pretty as store bought Uncrustables, but they taste just as good if not better. And if you make them yourself, you can fill them with anything you'd like - hello, Nutella!

• Simply cut off the crusts of the bread (white works best) & roll flat with a rolling pin.
• Spread your filling in the middle of both sides of bread. *TIP: Combine your fillings together in a small bowl before spreading for an even distribution of flavors.
• Place two pieces of bread together with the filling on the inside & seal the ends together with a pastry roller or the tines of a fork.
• Place Uncrustables on a baking sheet topped with a Silpat mat or waxed paper & freeze for 2-3 hours.
• Transfer to a large resealable bag & store in the freezer until ready to use.
*Uncrustables will thaw on their own by lunchtime if packed in school lunches, or you can zap them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
I actually needed to google what uncrustables as had no idea but i understood Peanut butter and jelly lol
ReplyDeleteI think all kids like uncrustables. When my son was little he wouldn't eat bread with the crust on. I like the idea of freezing them for later.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I never buy uncrustables because I love the crust, but with this, I could just eat the crusts myself :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh I was an uncrustables kinda kid.... So funny how something so silly scares young ones.... I can say that I no longer have to have my crust taken off my bread hehehe
ReplyDeleteI like uncrustables. I like toasting mine a little so it warm on the outside but still a little cold in the middle. Always say Im going to make my own but never do.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter LOVES Uncrustables and I've totally considered making my own for her. It's probably about time that I've tried it! Thanks for sharing this, I'm going to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI love them!! :) I dislike crusts so this looks perfect for me!
ReplyDeleteEven I love uncrustables, lol. I love sandwiches, I'm just not fond of the crust. Except in grilled sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice snack or lunch idea for little ones. Thankfully my little one likes the crusts on bread though, must be why his hair's so curly :)
ReplyDeleteClever! My mom would never get me the uncrustables when I was little. I like the idea of being able to make them myself! (Even though I don't mind the crust much anymore!)
ReplyDeleteThis is one great idea! I can do it in a snap.. And my daughter will definitely love this PB&J! :)
ReplyDeleteI have never tried the uncrustables. My kids have though, and they like them, so I bet they'd like if I made them myself at home.
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea indeed. I actually never thought of mixing the spread together. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a neat idea. Yes, the uncrustables are expensive but the best thing about them is that they can be frozen and are easy to pack in lunchboxes or coolers. You have found a way to mimic this product. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI loved the crust so no way would I take it off. Never understood why kids didn't like them. They're the beast part of years sandwich.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I never thought about doing this before, but I love it! I saw at a kids birthday party where the mom had taken uncrustables and used star shape cookie cutters to make sandwiches for the water themed party - so cute!!! Pinning for later. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I'm going to do this for the kids
ReplyDeleteI've never had an Uncrustable before, but I love any kitchen hack that saves money...and allows you to control the ingredients in the foods eaten. And the thought of a Nutella one...YUM!
ReplyDeleteThis looks totally awesome. Homemade stuff are truly so good and perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and sounds awesome and easy to make. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! For some reason, my daughter does not like the crusts on her bread. I don't know what the big deal is, but then what do you do with the crusts??
ReplyDeleteKids don't really like crust, do they? My daughter is seven and she's learned to love crusts little by little.
