Simple Sunday: When You Take Down a Wall

Hubs decided it was time to start tearing down the wall at the bottom of the steps so we could open it up a bit more & this is what we found. I guess that's what happens when your house is over 100 years old.

I wonder what else we'll discover.

  1. That's beautiful! Sometimes I wish we would buy a home so that e could venture into projects like this. And there are days I'm grateful for condo living. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Wow! You're right...who knows what else is there! We refinished an antique secretary/desk one year that someone in my husband's family had painted over - green for several years, then white...imagine our surprise when the top of the desk had the most beautiful inlaid mother-of-pearl! Who would paint over that???!!!

  5. That is gorgeous! I so wish we had a big old house. We're in a slightly over 1000 sq ft house with 11 people and it's a squish!

  20. All I can think is, what stories that wood and your house would tell if it could speak. I love old houses full of charm, but they can be a money pit (I guess I don't have to tell you that!), so I wish you all the best on your renovations.
