Hubs decided it was time to start tearing down the wall at the bottom of the steps so we could open it up a bit more & this is what we found. I guess that's what happens when your house is over 100 years old.
That's beautiful! Sometimes I wish we would buy a home so that e could venture into projects like this. And there are days I'm grateful for condo living. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! You're right...who knows what else is there! We refinished an antique secretary/desk one year that someone in my husband's family had painted over - green for several years, then white...imagine our surprise when the top of the desk had the most beautiful inlaid mother-of-pearl! Who would paint over that???!!!
All I can think is, what stories that wood and your house would tell if it could speak. I love old houses full of charm, but they can be a money pit (I guess I don't have to tell you that!), so I wish you all the best on your renovations.

ReplyDeleteWe're getting ready to move this weekend, but its a newer townhome so I'm thinking there shouldn't be any surprises!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! I so wish we had a big old house. We're in a slightly over 1000 sq ft house with 11 people and it's a squish!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering what you'll find as well. Maybe there might be some buried treasure in there. :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure what it looked like before so to me that looks pretty normal?
ReplyDeleteWow! That's really cool. We live in a old house so I wonder if there are any secrets here.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is beautiful and timeless - love older architecture!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love when I discover some great things when I'm not expecting it.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what is behind the wall. That is a nice piece of wood.

ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a 100 year old home to remodel. I hope you find many more hidden goodies in your home.

ReplyDeleteIt is true you never know what is behind the walls.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the look of older places.
ReplyDeleteCrazy how things hiding behind walls turn out to be so pretty. Why would people cover this up?
ReplyDeletewow; how exiting! Maybe there is a buried treasure :-)
ReplyDeleteWow! Sometimes it's nice to see what you can find. My father is working on his house and re doing a lot of stuff. I wonder if he'll find anything.
