Fun Friday: Upcycled Produce Bag

I can always use another bag for the Farmers Market. But it needs to be sturdy & comfortable to carry at the same time. And homemade. (What?!)

It has 3 large apples in it, in case you were wondering.

How To:

•t-shirt (I used an old fitted one that got a bit stretched out from the wash)
•scissors
•needle & sturdy thread

•Turn t-shirt inside out.
•Cut across, rounding at the ends, below the arms of the shirt.
•Stitch the cut ends together, going over twice (just to make sure it holds up).
•Place bag inside right on work surface.
•Fold in half & cut slightly large slit near the natural seam for handles.
•Using a basket weave pattern, cut smaller slits throughout the bag.
•Stretch the bag to curl the slits slightly.

This has already been stretched, but you can see the basket weave pattern of the slits.

*Note: What's great about this bag is that it can also double as a tote! (It works great for taking all three of the kids, their soccer balls, snacks & drinks to the park.)
