Glass Dharma: The Original Glass Straw & a Giveaway!

Glass straws. Either you love them, or you've never heard of them. I'll admit that I was the latter until a couple of weeks ago. But now I want to replace every single plastic straw in my house with glass straws. (Thanks for the new obsession Glass Dharma.)

I know what you're thinking. Glass? As a straw? But this isn't just any kind of glass we're talking about. Borosilicate glass is the strongest commercial glass available (think Pyrex) & Glass Dharma uses borosilicate tubing for their straws. They even anneal their glass under computer controlled conditions to follow guidelines set by Corning, Inc. (the makers of Pyrex). If you know anything about Pyrex, you know it takes a lot for it to break. Same goes for these glass straws.

I received 4 straws from Glass Dharma; a sipper straw, a smoothie straw & 2 iced tea straws.

The sipper straw (7mmX6.25") is the perfect size for little kids with little cups. This one just happens to be in the Decorative Dot Collection which has two dots of colored glass (available in amber-pictured, red, green, blue, clear & black), making them perfect to identify your drink. Damien loved that he got to use the "coolest straw ever" & I loved that he couldn't chew on it. Especially since that's the #1 reason why we go through so many plastic straws. (There has to be a landfill somewhere of just plastic straws that kids chewed up.)

Check out this photo on Instagram!

The smoothie straw (12mmX9") is just what I've needed for the longest time. I'm a huge fan of smoothies & in the mornings I like to add some oatmeal to them. Have you ever tried to drink an oatmeal smoothie through a regular plastic straw? It doesn't work. At all. But this one from the Simple Elegance Collection is perfect!

The iced tea straws (9.5mmX9") are the closest to a plastic straw as far as size goes. I received one from the Decorative Dots Collection (in blue) & one from the Beautiful Bend Collection. I have to say that I prefer the Beautiful Bend on this one. I'm not sure if it's because it rests on my glass perfectly, or if it's just because it has a bend & bendy straws remind me of my childhood. Either way, it's the bend in the end.

There is also a bubble tea straw (14mmX9") that I need to get my hands on. Seeing as how I recently discovered I love bubble tea & make it at home now.

Now I know you've got to be wondering how you store glass straws. Well, the best way, in a glass. A mason jar glass or another pretty glass is a great way to store them on the counter or even in a cupboard. Just be sure if you store them in the drawer with the rest of the utensils, you keep them protected.

So why do we love Glass Dharma Glass Straws? They're durable, reusable, sustainable, easy to clean, safe for hot or cold drinks, dishwasher safe, microwave safe, lead free & come with a hassle-free lifetime guarantee against breakage & a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Wow, that's a lot of reasons! And let's not forget that one glass straw can replace up to hundreds of plastic straws (If not more)!

*Cleaning brushes are occasionally boxed with a straw to reduce excess packaging. They do not always come with one.
